Adding new dresser drawer pulls is one easy way to update the look of your dresser or other bedroom furniture. Buying new furniture can be expensive, but by updating it you can make it feel fresh and different.

This is especially the case if you have solid wood furniture or well constructed furniture. Over time it can start to look out of date, but the furniture itself may still be in great shape. Buying and installing new dresser drawer pulls and knobs is one easy way to give your dresser a fresh, new look.

Whether you choose oil rubbed bronze cabinet hardware or pewter cabinet hardware can make a big difference in the look of your kitchen or bathroom. The cabinet knobs and pulls you choose can change the look of the room, especially the kitchen, more than you may think. Some cabinet hardware blends in and looks natural, some adds that perfect necessary finish and some truly stands out and becomes a conversation piece.

Oil rubbed bronze cabinet hardware sounds like a mouthful but what does it mean? Oil rubbed bronze is a type of finish applied to hinges, knobs and pulls. Originally it was considered a "living finish" because it would slightly change over time. Oil or another material was rubbed on the hardware and over time it would oxidize creating a distinct look and finish. When the cabinet knobs and pulls are prepared in this way

Cabinet backplates are the piece of cabinet hardware that sits between the face of the door and the back of the cabinet knob or drawer pull. You don't need to install a backplate, but there are a few reasons why you may want to. Some people use them to protect the face of the cabinet, some simply like the look they create but in many cases they are used when replacing old knobs and pulls with new ones.

Cabinet knob backplates can be used to cover existing holes in your cabinets from previous knobs or pulls. If you want to slightly shift the position of the knob or if you have drawer pulls that don't match the existing holes you can cover the old holes with the cabinet backplate. Another option is to use wood putty to cover the existing holes, but a backplate will usually do a better job of covering them.

Using crystal cabinet knobs or glass knobs is a great way to add a vibrant look to your home. To keep the theme uniform in your home you can use crystal kitchen cabinet knobs, bathroom cabinet knobs and even crystal door knobs. In keeping the theme uniform you can still add variety by using both clear and colored glass cabinet knobs and pulls throughout your home.

If you've started looking for crystal cabinet knobs you have likely seen a lot of glass cabinet knobs or seen glass/crystal listed as the materials in the knobs. You may wonder what the difference is between crystal knobs and glass knobs. The difference is the amount of lead in the glass. Crystal contains lead, which makes the glass more refractive.

Whether you have recently finished installing brand new cabinets or you simply want to update your old cabinet hardware, installing cabinet knobs and pulls is a relatively easy home improvement project.
